Burgess-Hyder Dental Group consists of eleven dental practices providing dental health centres of excellance for Durham, the Dales, Darlington and Seaham. The Group employs over 20 dentists and 60 support staff. We are one of the North-East’s largest group of independently owned NHS suppliers in dental health care. Our group started with the 2 practices located in the villages of Ferryhill and Chilton in 1984. There had previously been established NHS dental services in the area for over 20 years.
Our Ferryhill site is currently a nine surgery purpose built dedicated dental health centre and was opened by Tony Blair in 1994. As well as offering routine dental services the Ferryhill Dental Centre has specialist hospital oral surgeons that visit weekly and operate an excellent out patient’s service by referral. Like all of our practices the Ferryhill site has state of the art equipment, digital imaging together with networked computer systems that allow efficient appointment making facilities. The waiting rooms are spacious and some have separate play areas and sure start library’s for children.
Between 1996 and 2008 we opened a further 5 practices in the South Durham and Dales locality. Notably in October 2008 our purpose built Sedgefield Dental Health Centre was opened by the Chief Dental Officer of England and Wales Barry Cockcroft. The next practice to open was Darlington in June 2009. In July 2010 Burgess-Hyder Group were proud to be awarded dental contracts in the villages of Bowburn and Esh Winning and two new health centres were opened following this. The newest addition to our group is the Seaham Dental Health Centre which already has a strong history of NHS commitment in the area since 1984.
In addition to many enhanced services the practice is a recognised post graduate training centre by the post graduate institute of medicine and dentistry.
Our aim is to work with you to provide high quality dental care complemented by professional experienced staff in a safe and friendly environment. We are committed to the delivery of NHS dental care to our local communities and ensuring our patients are treated with compassion.
